Annie
Neuman Riggs
October

Ancona Advocate
Miss Annie Neuman was born in New
Jersey in the year of our Lord 8125, was united in marriage to Charles Riggs in
the year 1851. Eight children were born
to the, seven now living and on dead.
Sister Riggs has been a member of the United Brethren church for a
number of years, having joined in early life, and while not demonstrative in
religious work, yet her life was such that those who were the most intimate
with her loved her best. She was a
loving mother and a kind neighbor, and in her death, which occurred Tuesday,
Oct. 9th 1891 at the ripe old age of 69 years, those who knew her realize their
loss, but our loss is her gain, for like a shock of corn ripe for the harvest,
she has been gathered home to await the coming of those that are left behind.
The funeral was preached by the writer from
Job 14, after which we sorrowfully followed her body to the cemetery here and
committed it to the ground, believing that “Blessed are the dead that die in
the Lord, yea sayeth the Spirit, they do rest from their labor and their works
do follow them” U.O. Dudley – Ancona
Advocate.
