Fairbury, Ill. Sept. 12
– Nathan J. Foster died at his home, 313 West Hickory Street, at noon,
Friday, death resulting from cancer. Funeral services will be held at 3
p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Charles S. Davies officiating. The
place of burial has not yet been decided upon.
Mr. Foster was born March 3, 1862 on
a farm, three and one-half miles east of Pontiac, the
son of George and Martha Foster. He was married to Miss
Sarah E. Van Doren in Owego Township on October 29, 1884. The couple
engaged in farming until 1890, when they moved to Fairbury. Mr. Foster
was employed by the Public Service Light Company, and later entered the garage
business. He retired from active business in 1932. He was a member
of the Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Fairbury Odd Fellows ledge.
Besides the widow there survives one
son, Alda Foster, and one daughter, Mrs. Marie Fugate, both of
this city; two brothers, H. A. Foster of this city, and G.E. Foster,
of Pontiac; one sister, Mrs. Sue Grandy, of Wichita, Kan., and five
grandchildren.
